Join architect James Chaffers, FAIA for a tour of his "urban cottage," an addition to an existing 100+ year old near-downtown single-family residence.Pre-registration is required and the number of spaces available for this tour is limited due to the relatively small size of the building.Topics to be covered include:* Site planning issues for urban infill and non-traditional development; turning a single-family lot into a "traditional duplex condominium"* Construction issues for an addition to a 100yr+ house* Site design issues for accommodating closely situated trees* Use of new construction materials including screw piles and Warmboard flooring* Design of a building to maximize spaciousness and light while accommodating a limited building footprint After the tour, those who want to continue the conversation can adjourn to Casey's (only a block away at 304 Depot) after the tour for socializing, networking, and discussion.
