In 2010, Michigan passed Property Assessed Clean Energy legislation, enabling local governments to create energy-financing districts, and provide loans to commercial and industrial property owners for energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy systems.
In partnership with the City of Ann Arbor, Clean Energy Communities is designing and implementing Michigan’s first commercial PACE program. Slated to launch in late 2011, PACE allows commercial property owners to finance building energy efficiency and renewable energy projects through a local property assessment.
Widespread adoption of PACE funding will help boost construction and clean energy jobs, drive economic stimulation, improve property values and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
