Professor John Macarthur is Director of the research centre for Architecture, Theory, Criticism and History (ATCH) at the University of Queensland where he also teaches architectural design. His research in history and theory of architecture has focused on the conceptual framework and the history of picturesque aesthetics. His book, “The Picturesque: architecture, disgust and other irregularities,” was published by Routledge in 2007. He is currently working on projects on the Baroque in the 20th century, on architectural aesthetics and on the history of the architecture of Queensland. This lecture will be followed by the “In The Garden” opening at the Taubman College Gallery.
